Chartplotters

A chartplotter enables boat owners to preload routes that can be edited before or during the voyage.  Some chartplotters depending on the model chosen also have the ability to allow the navigator to store hundreds of routes at a time for future use.  Seamless chart technology in a GPS chartplotter ensures a clutter free, yet detailed chart presentation with currents, tides, shaded depth contours, navigation aids, spot soundings and more.

For example, all of the underwater obstruction would be stored in one layer, coastlines in another layer and onshore references in another.  A chartplotter than uses the coordinates of these reference points to build the chart on the screen for visual navigation.  Important information like heading and speed and more will also be supplied to the navigator through the use of a GPS chartplotter unit.
